KC Rules

Hi, I’m Jennie, KC’s mom and author of this blog. As the mom in the house, I guess you could call me KC’s “Lady in Waiting”. (That would definitely make Dad the “Court Jester”.) KC is our first child, born Sept. 14, 2007. I’m a mom, a wife and a full-time graphic designer. Being a working mom is tough. I do some freelance design too, but I try to keep it at manageable levels. Ever since Queen KC arrived, it’s all I can do to change my bed sheets every once in a while. Extra work is, shall we say, tricky some days.

I’ve got a great partner to help me with the “time management” issues of childcare vs. work. KC’s dad is fantastic. Ted’s a big kid himself so the two of them are going to be trouble. I can see it already. Sometimes parenthood feels like being blindfolded and let loose in a strange new world. However, it’s getting easier every day. We manage to have a pretty good time figuring it all out. I have a feeling the sense of humor we maintain around here will guide us through a lot. And given that we are heading fast into the the “terrible twos and threes”…we are going to need all the laughter we can get!

I started this blog as a way to keep track of my experiences as a mom, and as an online journal of sorts that I can share with KC someday. The title reflects my daughter’s role in our home (and in our hearts). She’s number one. I guess if we ever have a “number two” I’ll have to rethink the title!
